CMA Awards!

So today it is the CMA Awards here in Nashville. The city is full of people heading there this evening and I am one of them. In fact I am the proud owner of a Media pass which means I get to sit in the press room for the duration. Which sounds great... until we realised we didn't have a long enough cable or the right cable endings to get the live feed we needed!! So today there has been much running around like headless chickens.

But I now have 40 feet of cable and hopefully the right endings... now I just have to get ready and get myself down to the Sommet Centre. Then the only thing I will have to deal with will be if I come over all unnecessary when I see Kenny Chesney.

More updates later!!

Big Celebrations!!!

So some big things are happening at the moment... the first is this...

I FINISHED A STORY!!

I finished it. After many years of half finished wips and some embarrassing scripts hidden in chests under my bed, I actually finished a first draft of a story. That is something that has a beginning, middle and an end. I will admit the middle is a little flaky but it is a middle. I feel I have moved from the group of people saying they want to write a book and fall before the end to the group that have finished a book and are now sitting around thinking "Damn!! No I've got to rewrite this sucker!"

And it is a romance. In fact it is aimed at category romance line... which brings me to another one of those big things!!!

It is the Pink Heart Society first birthday and they have invited me to join their treasure hunt.

So for the lil pink jumpin' guy I am leaving

a wonderful pink cowboy hat
and cowboy boots.

Fitting for presents from a country music DJ don't ya think??

Nashville Nights (and some mornings and afternoons)

I have wrestled the photos off Lee and will add to my cowboy hugging collection by adding this one of myself and the incredibly tall Darryl Worley (6'6"). I kindly received an invitation to sit on his tour bus and drink whiskey from his NY promo guy, RJ (who is one of New York state's biggest Eastenders fan)

After my gratuitous groping of Mr Worley it was time for Big & Rich's Kegger!!! These people KNOW how to party. Free drinks and food at the rehearsal hall at the GEC, our own flashing beer mugs (which I lost somewhere along the line) and a great concert. I also managed to be right at the front within touching (or being kicked) distance of John Rich's feet. I think The Chesney has a rival.... *sigh*

Below are a few shots from it... for those of you who are not familiar with Big & Rich. The smaller darkhaired gentleman with the guitar and the 'tash is John Rich, the man in the tall hat is Big Kenny and the little guy is Two Foot Fred (one of the extended Big & Rich family known as The Muzic Mafia).

More From Nashville!!!

So halfway point in the seminar and there should be another load of updates on the CMR Nashville Blog

However I just had to post another photo of me canoodling with cowboys. This one was fully clothed and is the talented Dusty Drake. He records for Big Machines and has a single out called "Say Yes".... (well who wouldn't?)

Have to rush, I'm meeting Jon Bon Jovi at 9am
