Not in Nashville. Not in Nashville All Week. Not Happy.

Thanks to everyone who has said such nice things about my foray into television. I was pleasantly surprised by my turn and was very happy to be involved in such a great programme.

And now we move on to my gripe.

I'm not in Nashville. I won't be in Nashville all week. I am NOT happy.

Here are ten reasons why I am not happy...

1) The CMAs are happening tomorrow
2) I am not going to the CMAs
3) Kenny Chesney will be performing at the CMAs
4) I am not going to be at the CMAs
5) Kenny Chesney could be winning an award at the CMAs and therefore available for questions after in the press room
6) I am neither at the CMAs or in the press room at the CMAs
7) The BBC aren't televising the CMAs this year
8) I am not even going to see the highlights of the CMAs
9) Hugh Jackman IS PRESENTING AN AWARD AT THE CMAs!!!!
10) I AM NOT GOING TO BE THERE!!!! *sob*

So to make myself feel better here are two photos to make up for things

Finished

I'm back in my hotel room tired, hungry and buzzing. I hope that you will scroll down to the beginning of the whole CMA Awards blogging here I do witter on a bit but was blogging as and when things were happening.

Of course the big news of the evening for me was asking The Chesney a question. This meant that to answer it he had to stare DIRECTLY AT ME and answer me. Therefore The Chesney knows I exist. This is a good thing. And it was in no way a debacle. I'm obviously learning.

I Spoke To Him!!!

Yes I asked The Chesney a question... yup I did.

And it wasn't a debacle. In fact it was good, I asked him if he was ever going to tour in Europe and specifically the UK. He said it was something he wanted to do. He said yes!! I have it on tape!!

And yes I was shaking ;-)

Into the final straight...

Taylor Swift is backstage and onstage ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR goes to KENNY CHESNEY!!!

My night is made!! Which means The Chesney should be backstage again!!

Boy Singers

So MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR goes to... Brad Paisley!!! Applause from the press room. His first CMA Award win in this catagory after seven nominations.

No win for Kenny or Keith but they still have Entertainer of The Year to go.

Aren't Famous People Short

So we have already discussed George Strait's unexpected height and I have always known that The Chesney was petit (removed the 'e' as it is masculine) but who knew that Sheryl Crow was as well.

On my way to the Ladies room I was almost run over by a small but extremely determined Ms Crow... I say determined because the look on her face made me move out of the way quick sharp.

Serious lack of people making their way backstage to be interviewed... hmmmm I think the natives are getting restless.

And He Performs As Well!!!

Kenny is performing 'Don't Blink' ... I am perking up somewhat.

And for the second year...

So Carrie Underwood has won again.

I'm beginning to flag. What a wuss I am.

Girl Singers

So we are waiting to find out about who is the finest girl singer... Carrie Underwood again maybe?

But first I have a headset on listening to Little Big Town and on the press stage is Dwight Yoakam, winner of International Artist.

Too much!!

The Paul O'Grady show are here... they have asked a question which was answered very well.

OK also happening while the press conference is going on is the Horizon award is about to be announced. i am multi-tasking like you wouldn't believe.

And TAYLOR SWIFT WON THE HORIZON AWARD!!! YAY!! Couldn't go to nicer person. Love her ever since she was such a sweetie to me last February.

Keith Urban with a dodgy haircut

Mr Urban seems to have had a fight with the barber's shears... chopped at the front and all longish at the back. i'm not saying mullet but...

He is performing 'Everybody' and still has two more awards he can win (having missed out on album of the year)

Hold on back to the matter at hand... Sugarland have just come in to be interviewed.

Dwight Yoakam and Album of the Year

Dwight is looking Dwight-ish in tight trousers and rhinestone suit.

And ALBUM OF THE YEAR goes to George Strait with 'It Just Comes Natural'... good choice. His sixth CMA Album of the year award and 17th CMA Award... so far. The night is young.

Panting...

Yes he is short... but he is still The Chesney and he is a sweetie :-)

He is being interviewed with Tracy Lawrence. Tracy is over excited... who wouldn't be he won his first CMA Award along with his best buddy.

And in other news Sugarland won VOCAL DUO OF THE YEAR knocking Brooks and Dunn of the spot. And Kenny is so chuffed for them. Bless him.

THE CHESNEY HAS LANDED!!!!

He is here... in the press room *swoon*

Normal service will resume... maybe

A Big Yellow Frock and The Eagles

Ok so Carrie Underwood was in the big yellow dress... a bit of a damp squib performance for me. But you can't deny how well she has done over the last two years. We'll find out later whether she wins any awards.

The Eagles are now on and performing... they sound very Eagle-sey.

The other interesting part of life in the press room is that they feed you. A bit like feeding time at the zoo. We have had pizza and sandwich boxes so far. No alcohol. Damn them.

Big & Rich v. Rascal Flatts

In a fight I definitely think Big & Rich could take Rascal Flatts. No problem. OK I know it is two against three... but that John Rich would definitely be a scrappy fighter.

Anyway the flash and sparkle of BIg & Rich performing "Loud' (and loud) was as always a spectacle.

Then Rascal Flatts won VOCAL GROUP OF THE YEAR! More to report if they come back for a press interview.

Brad Paisley, Marching Bands and Alison Krauss

I'm not sure Brad Paisley, a marching band and the writhing of Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler were quite what I was expecting but there they were.

Alison Krauss as always gives a great performance.

George Strait

George Strait performed 'How 'Bout Them Cowgirls' and the his song 'Give It Away' won song of the year. So kudos to the writers... especially Jamey Johnson who thanked his ex-wife for inspiring it.

They are here for photos... who knew George Strait was so short??

And We're Off!!

Already had Rascal Flatts up and playing 'Still Feels Good' and Miranda Lambert with 'Gunpowder And Lead'

Sheryl Crow is awarding SINGLE OF THE YEAR.... and the winner is Carrie Underwood with 'Before He Cheats'. Probably my favourite track of the whole of album.

First Three Awards!

Music Video of the Year - Brad Paisley for 'Online'
Musician of the Year - Jerry Douglas
Musical Event of the Year - Tracy Lawrence, Tim McGraw & Kenny Chesney (woooooooo!!) for 'Find Out Who Your Friends Are'

The waiting is almost over... am sitting next to a nice man from AP Radio.
