SCARED!!!

Yup I'm scared. Petrified. Deep down in my boots, monster under the bed, screaming heebie jeebie scared.

And of what, I hear you ask.

My book.

Yes that wonderful story we have been celebrating the ending of. The book that has a request already. That one.

It scares me.

I'm not sure why. Maybe it is the thought that I can't make it work. That my revisions will rip the heart out of it. That I am not capable of making this story work. Or even that it is a pile of steaming poo which no amount of revision/re-writing will fix.

So after much procrastination I picked it up yesterday and read half of it and made a start at re-writing the beginning. But it still scares me.

Lecture alert:

They like your voice.

In the words of my editor.... you can't fix voice. You can fix everything else.

Your plans sounded on the money when we talked so what you need to do is get yourself into it and work your way out. It's harder to get started, and easier once you're in it.

YOU CAN DO THIS!

No be skeert.

Just dooo eeeeeet!

And Donna's right, once you start fixing it, you just keep moving forward. The story gathers its own momentum.

You can do it. Listen to the wise women :-)

Donna - I know... but I have got myself all in a tangle (probably due to not sleeping very well)

Sela - hello sweetie, I know you are right.

Liz - they are wise aren't they, and I am just being silly.

I agree with Donna.

They love your voice. Make the changes that they suggested etc. They don't say things like if they don't mean them. Have faith.

YOU CAN DO THIS !!!

And yes, it is terrifying. A bit like riding on the wall of death -- very addictive though.

You can do eeet!!

It really does get easier as you get more into it. Really.

And think of the chocolate you will deserve when you're done.

And, of course, the chocolate you need now, to fuel the revising process...
