Sincere Apologies to Rascal Flatts

I am eating humble pie today. Yes, I admit it I was wrong. About what you might ask. Well about Rascal Flatts... you see I haven't been the biggest fan of theirs. In fact I have been quite disparaging in private. Not on air! No I do a chartshow and if they are in the charts they get played! But they didn't do anything for me... but that all changed some time around 7.30pm last night.

You see Rascal Flatts are visiting the UK and last night they played a small intimate gig at the 100 Club on Oxford Street in London. About 200 people, a mixture of media, musos and the Rascal Flatts fan club. They took to the stage at 7.30pm and played a blinder of a set. Tight harmonies, great sound, relaxed banter with crowd. Very personable they were to.

By song two my feet were tapping and I was singing along to 'Broken Road', 'What Hurts the Most' and 'Life is a Highway'... by the encore I was a convert.

So sincere apologies to Rascal Flatts... you rocked!

Hot Salsa!

Tonight I had a rather aborted attempt at going to a salsa dance class. It was a spur of the moment thing, an IM from a friend asking if I was up for an expedition. I did ask if I needed to bring a pith helmet and an elephant gun but was told no (I think it was a wasted opportunity myself). So off we trotted, all excited and full of expectations... and you know what stopped me? My bag! Yes I was stopped from shaking my funky groove thang because of the backpack that I take to work with me. They didn't stop me from dancing because of the backpack you understand... it is just my anal retentiveness meant I couldn't stand the thought of leaving my bag hanging around whilst I hippy shook on the dance floor.

So after the world's strongest two vodka tonics (it was two for one in happy hour!) and watching other people skipping the light fantastic we retired to Ed's diner for burger and fries... so next Wednesday we will try again. This time with my backpack safely stowed in a safe office.

Isn't Research Fun!?!?

Having just managed to get my papers together for my accountant I decided I needed to do some research for my latest book.
Not sure what I'm calling it... maybe The Ugly Duckling? Or something like that.

So I would like to introduce you to Lucas Kern and Jo Lamb...

MIA

Yes I have been missing for rather awhile haven't I?

All for a good reason though... I have been working to pay my bills. That and dealing with some other stuff and generally making a nuisance of myself on various poor people's IMs.

Tomorrow will mark week 2 of the partial being at M&B. Ahh well I'm sure patience is a virtue... maybe.

But today's good news is that I have written two pages of the new book! For the past week I have been doing all those background questionnaire thingies and of course making myself research photos of men to cast as heroes (so tough!). And today on the way to work I saw the beginning of the book, so at lunchtime today I started to write it. Happy Days.

More soon on who has been inspiring me and the like.

Blogging At The Pink Heart Society

I meant to do this last night or at least earlier this morning but I got distracted... what a surprise!

I am blogging over at The Pink Heart Society, for the next year I will be keeping a monthly warts and all online diary about my writing life. Today is a recap of the last year... some of which has been mentioned here, some hasn't.

And if you are visiting me for the first time!

HELLO!!! Welcome!!

And just to update you all on my writing life since yesterday morning... I received my confirmation letter from M&B, so I have my reference number. So naturally out last night with champagne and wine! Admittedly the champagne was for a friend's house warming.

So onwards and upwards for 2008!
