Raining On Sunday

OK so it isn't Sunday and it isn't raining but it is the title of a short story that has tickled my fancy.

Imagine a full day spread before me, only a small hangover from last night and a clean sheet of paper of a day to write on. So what do I do? I go to the gym. Admittedly very noble of me but still a waste of quality writing time.

By the time I sit down to write it is late afternoon and I am struggling with the wip. Is Ollie beginning to sound like all the other characters? Who can tell? Not me.

Suddenly a track comes on, all I can see are a couple embracing during a gloomy rainy afternoon. This is one afternoon where tomorrow will take care of itself. I have to write this story. I have to write it NOW.
I put the track on repeat and so far I have written 1500 words. They haven't made it to the bed yet but whatelse is there to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon with a power cut?

I promised myself I would do some writing this weekend...

But tomorrow is another day and here's hoping that the inspiration I had last night about Ollie and his state of mind will come back.
Ollie is at present sitting in a drafty church watching the woman he is infatuated with marry someone else. Yesterday I was inspired by two songs that I played for my show.

The Crush Pool

After keeping myself out of the Romantic Entanglement Riptide for about a year, I recently decided that I should get my feet slightly damp just to check the temperature. A sort of paddle in the shallows if you will.

As a result I have created myself a "Crush Pool", a small collective of gentleman that I have a crush on. A pool which I can wade into, gently making ripples of flirtation. Nothing too splashy of course. You wouldn't want to scare me out when I have just rolled up my jeans, I don't want the denim getting soggy. Not yet anyway.

In a few months I might have made my way to the next pool in the line, it's a bit deeper, hotter, wetter with some deceptive under currents.
Woe betide the person who dabbles in The Kiss Pool without the proper preparation!
